In a world of AI, the thing that is dying is personality.
Everything is becoming generic. Everything is becoming copyable. So what can you defend against?
For me it’s always been about that personal touch. Since I started at Breakthrough Maths in 2020, it was me doing everything: teaching the classes, doing the notes, dropping voice notes to the parents. That’s why this grew from eight students to 3,000 because I put so much emphasis on making every parent and child feel special.
And we’ve built a system where we can do this at scale, give genuine personable feedback to parents and to students on their performance. For me the secret of good grinds is 50% method, 50% magic. The magic is the confidence. The emotional support. Giving that feedback and giving that accountability.
And that is what makes Breakthrough Maths special: delivering that communication to parents and students every single week at scale. It’s our magic sauce. It’s that text on a Sunday saying, “Hey Mum, your child got X% this week. They’re predicted to get this grade and this is what I focus on in their studies this week.”
That’s what moves the needle. That’s what parents and students need and want and that is what will scale Breakthrough Maths to become the most personable brand in Europe.
We literally every summer spend a week in training all our customer service staff, all our tutors, talking through:
- what it means to be personable
- what it means to give good advice
- what it means to give feedback
There’s a reason why we have over a thousand reviews: people want and love to talk to humans and that’s what we do best at Breakthrough Maths. We are human and we give that emotional support and stability and that is what separates us from the rest of the tutoring companies across the world
It won’t happen today. It won’t happen tomorrow but as Breakthrough Maths scales we will keep that personal touch to differentiate from the rest of our competitors and become one of the most personal brands in Europe.
